Hoolio - Great Horned Owl

Hoolio is a Great Horned Owl. Owls are the only birds that are completely silent when they fly, which makes them really good hunters. Owl ears are asymmetrical, that allows them to tell exactly which direction and elevation sound is coming from. Typically the right ear is higher on the skull than the left ear. All owls have exceptionally good eyesight and hearing, but no sense of smell. They are the only animal known to eat skunks.Owls are nocturnal, that means they are more active at night.

This just in - Hoolio laid an egg this week, (Feb 27, 2008) so now he's, uh, Hoolia? Who knew.
